Main Beach Gokarna |
Hello Guys!! I am back again with yet another travel blog and this time it's about Gokarna.
Gokarna is known as one of the important Hindu Pilgrimage center but there are beautiful beaches, waterfalls as well apart from temples. So guys if you are not religious, that's ok you can enjoy beaches and explore other beautiful places at Gokarna.
Gokarna is around 480 KM from Bangalore and it took us around 10-12 hours to reach there. There were options for bus and train to reach Gokarna, however we travelled by bus. It is located at the sea shore and is pretty close to Goa. Actually, it is on the way to Goa.
There are lots of mythological stories related to Gokarna which you will get to know once you visit Gokarna, specially Murdeshwar which is near to Gokarna. So guys have patience and complete reading this blog to know more about Gokarna.
Where to stay?
If you have good budget then you can stay near beaches like OM beach, kudle beach. We stayed near to main beach Gokarna, the stay was not awesome but it was reasonable and no difficulty for food and transport as well. Also, the bus stop is very close, if you stay near to main beach Gokarna.
Day 1: Nearby Beaches in Gokarna
There are lots of beaches near main beach Gokarna like OM Beach, Kudle Beach, Paradise Beach, Half Moon Beach. We spent full day covering all the beaches and in the evening we covered Mahabaleshwar temple which is close to Main Beach Gokarna. We spent the evening at the Main beach Gokarna. One thing I like more about the beaches is, it becomes more beautiful during evening time when sun starts to set. You will feel relaxed and forget everything by watching the waves and its sound sitting in the sand near beach.

Om Beach |
Among all beaches, we enjoyed more at OM beach. OM beach is known for its OM shape and when you travel, the shape is seen from the cliff of hill on the way to the beach.

Day2: Yana Caves and Vibhuthi falls
Day 2 was quite different from the previous day as we moved away from beaches. It was kind of hiking like experience as both the places which we were going to cover was far and we had to walk to reach the place and was at good height.
The whole experience was amazing and you guys will enjoy each and every moment.
Yana Caves and Vibhuthi falls are close by and is around 55 km from main beach Gokarna. Yana caves is famous for massive rock formation of hill and has religious importance. To reach Yana caves we walked through the forest for around 2-3 km, it was an amazing experience and I am sure you guys will love it as well. There is also a small temple close to the cave. Apart from that there are lots of spots for photography.

Yana Cave |
Our next spot was Vibhuthi falls and again we had to walk for around 2 km to reach the fall. On the way from Yana caves to fall, there are many spots where you can stop and have photography session. On reaching the fall you can enjoy swimming in the water.

Day3: Jog falls and Murdeshwar
When you are at Gokarna, I think Jog falls and Murdershwar are the places you must cover. Murdeshwar is best for the people who is religious and Jog falls is for the people who loves natural beauty.
Murdeshwar is on seashore and view from temple is really good. The major attraction of the temple is the second tallest Shiva statue and it's history which is believed to be from the times of Ramayan. It is around 88 km from Jog falls which will take around 2 hours. So if you are planning a trip to Jog falls then you can cover this place as well, we also did the same when we travelled to Jog falls.
Talking about Jog falls, it is around 113 km from Gokarna which will take around 3 hrs which means covering both Jog falls and Murdeshwar will take 1 full day if you are returning back to Gokarna. Jog falls is third highest waterfall in India, it is a segmented waterfall and depends much on rain water. So, rainy season is best time to visit Jog falls.
