Hampi - The Ancient Village of Karnataka

Hampi, one of the World Heritage Site is the historical place located in east-central part of KARNATAKA, India. This place is believed to exist from 14th century and has been mentioned in the Ramayana. It is near to the city named HOSPET.

The only thing that comes in my mind about Hampi is the beautiful and historical monuments and the bicycle ride. I travelled to Hampi during month of December 2017 and it proved to be one of the memorable trip of my life.

Destination Hospet

The journey begins at Bangalore which is around 376 km from Hospet in a train. It took us around 12 hrs to reach Hospet where we stayed and it was the closest city from Hampi. The trip was of 3 days and we enjoyed each moment at Hampi. So guys be ready to explore the ancient place, Hampi with me.

Day 1

Hampi is around 13 km from Hospet and we took an auto to reach there. There was an option for buses as well but we preferred auto.

On reaching Hampi, the first place which we covered was Virupaksha Temple. The temple had beautiful architecture and its walls and ceiling were carved with beautiful statue. Beside the temple there was a small pond which looked amazing.

After spending some time at temple and pond, we explored few places near to the temple. It was already evening by the time we covered few places. Therefore, we spent some at the sunset point close to the temple. The whole hampi can be viewed from the point which was amazing.

Day 2

Next day we reached Hampi again and this time we took bicycle to roam around various places. The bicycle ride was an awesome experience but it was tiring as well because of hot weather.

We covered lots of ancient temples and places like Lakshmi Narasimha Temple, Vithala Temple, Yantrodharaka Hanuman Temple, King's Balance, Monolith Bull, Big Shivlinga. All these places were not too far from Virupaksha Temple which we covered previous day and it took us whole day to cover them.

Vithala temple is famous for its architecture with craving and stone chariot. It is also known for the Musical Pillars.

The Hanuman Temple which we covered was a bit far but it was nice experience reaching the temple on bicycle and climbing around 575 steps. The temple is on top of the Anjaneya Hill and is believed to be birthplace of Lord Hanuman. The view from the temple was amazing and cool breeze will make you feel relaxed. We also found some floating stones placed in the temple which were told in Ramayana.

Day 3

This was the last day for us at Hampi and we covered Tungabhadra Dam before we left. It is around 13 km from hospet and can be reached easily on auto.

On the way to dam we spent some time at a park close to dam. It was good spot for photography. On reaching dam we started clicking pictures again as the view was really good.

So guys this brings to an end of yet another trip. I really enjoyed it and I am sure you guys will love it too if you get chance to visit.
